Energy consumption fell 5.7% in May

Brasília, 22 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - Eletrobrás reports that energy consumption fell 5.7% in May, compared to May 2001. And there has been a cumulative reduction of 12.3% in energy consumption for the first five months of the year, compared to the same period in 2001.

According to the head of the Market Studies Department, Amilcar Guerreiro, consumers continue to economize even after rationing ended, especially residential consumers. There has been a slight rise in consumption in the industrial sector, he reports. (AB)
