Peugeot-Citroen's 1st motor factory in Brazil begins production

Rio de Janeiro, 4 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - The global president of the PSA Peugeot-Citroen group, Jean-Martin Folz, announces Thursday (March 7), in Rio de Janeiro, the beginning of production at the company's first motor factory in Brazil, located in the town of Porto Real, in the state of Rio de Janeiro. According to a spokesman for Peugeot-Citroen, the event confirms the confidence deposited by the French group in Brazil, where the company already detains 3.1% of the market after only 1 year of industrial activity. Peugeot-Citroen grew 58.5% last year in a market that expanded 12%. The new plant will produce the latest 1.6 16v motors, which will be placed in the automobiles manufactured by the company for the Mercosur region. (MW)
