Brasilia, 4 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - The Brazilian government's concerns regarding the international steel market has led the Foreign Trade Secretariat (SECEX) to step up the monitoring and control of this sector. "The steel market is undergoing great changes and some decisions that developed nations might be taking soon could affect this market as a whole," said Lytha Spindola on Friday, who is the Foreign Trade secretary at the Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade.

According to her, Brazil, like the rest of the world, is concerned with the situation. She pointed out that Brazil is an important producer and exporter of steel products.

Despite the closer monitoring of the steel industry abroad, Spindola ensured that nothing abnormal has been detected so far. "This control is important precisely for this reason - so that we can bring to the attention of our superiors any information on aberrations, bursts of trade or pronounced drops in prices," she concluded.
