Brasília, 27 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - Today minister of Finance, Pedro Malan, made an appeal to members of Congress to remember the economy as they debate the budget. "We have to discuss each tree without forgetting about the forest," said the minister, pointing out that Brazil is unique nowadays among developing nations in that it has a responsible fiscal regime in which the budget is balanced.

Malan said that in his opinion, fiscal responsibility is perfectly compatible with social responsibility. "No administration has ever invested as much as this one in social assistance," stated Cardoso. (AB)
