IPEA calculates Brazilian GDP grew 1.8% in 2001

Rio de Janeiro, 28 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - The Conjuncture Bulletin of the month of January - disclosed Wednesday by the Institute of Applied Economic Studies (IPEA) - shows that, after a promising 1st quarter, the Brazilian economy faced strong turbulence in the 2nd and 3rd quarters of 2001. According to the report, the situation only began to improve in November. The Institute warned, however, that the "tighten your seat belt" sign is still on.
