Brastislava, 27 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - Today president Fernando Henrique Cardoso received the title of Doutor Honoris Causa from the Konstantin Filozof University. The honorary diploma was given to Cardoso by the rector, Daniel Kluvans. In his acceptance speech, Cardoso said it was necessary to exert political control on the globalization process so that the benefits did not all go to the rich nations.

Cardoso also said it was time move ahead with political regulation of the world economy, not just to control market stability, but to democratize the gains of globalization. "We must update the rules of commerce, make those rules more equitable, more just," said Cardoso. (AB)
