Oxford (England), November 14, 2002 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - President Fernando Henrique Cardoso criticized today the American government's decision to prohibit poultry imports from Canada and Brazil. According to the president, the reaction to this measure will be vigorous. He considered that the restriction will hinder negotiations over the Free Trade Area of the Americas (FTAA). "The FTAA will not come about this way. It cannot be the continuation of unilateralism or serve to regulate products that are in others' interests, not ours," he affirmed. (DAS)
