Brasilia, November 15, 2002 (Agencia Brasil ABr) - The coordinator of the goverment-elect's transition team, Antonio Palocci, reaffirmed that president-elect Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva is committed to continued economic stability and respect for contracts. He emphasized that Lula's commitment to social programs was not just a campaign promise.

Palocci says he expects talks with IMF to be successful because what is under discussion at the moment is an established contract. He said the Brazilian economy is doing well and that the agreement will be fulfilled, especially with regard to the primary surplus. (AB)
