Bávaro (Dominican Republic), November 18, 2002 (Agência Brasil – ABr) – On Friday (15), speaking to journalists at the Iberian-American Summit, president Fernando Henrique Cardoso said he believed president-elect Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva should continue to insist on a seat for Brazil in an expanded UN Security Council.

Cardoso revealed that in a telephone conversation with British prime minister, Tony Blair, on Thursday (14), he complained about a recent declaration by the British government which did not mention Brazil as a candidate for a UN Security Council seat. "I told him that was not right. He said I was right, Brazil has long claimed a seat there, and that he would look into the matter," said Cardoso. (AB)
