Rio, November 18, 2002 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - Sales and receipts in the commerce of goods and services in the metropolitan area of Rio de Janeiro fell below entrepreneurs' expectations in October, according to the survey of Opinion of the Commerce of Goods and Services, conducted by the Fecomércio-RJ Institute. The balance of expectations was 38.17% negative (the difference between the 52.99% who sold less than expected and the 14.82% who sold more). The result showed that the rate of failed expectations was less than in September, when the balance was 57.39% negative.
Compared with October, 2001, the sales or receipts of the firms included in the sample presented an average estimated retraction of 4.54%
As regards November, the commerce of goods and services is optimistic and estimates an average 14.87% increase.
In its analysis of the level of employment, the report reveals an estimated increase of 1.80% in the number of employees in October, compared with September. (DAS)
