Brasília, November 19, 2002 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - Minister of Health, Barjas Negri, has launched Projeto Nascer (Project Birth) which will combat the transmission of AIDS and syphilis to babies by their mothers during pregnancy. The project will operate in 450 maternity wards which are affiliated with the Unified Public Health System (SUS). It will consist of counseling services and clinical control. (AB)
