Trade surplus for 2002 is now over US$10 billion

Brasília, November 19, 2002 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - A trade surplus of US$444 million in the third week of November pushed the cumulative surplus for the year over US$10 billion - to exactly US$10.875 billion - and very close to the government's target of US$11 billion. According to the Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade, exports in the third week of November rose across the board: basic goods up 35.3%, semi-manufactured goods up 47.5% and manufactured goods up 9.5%, for an average rise of 21.4%, compared to November 2001.
