Electricity consumption rose 14.2% in September

Rio, November 19, 2002 (Agência Brasil - ABr) – The September survey of electricity consumption by Eletrobrás found that it rose 14.2%, reaching 24,398 gigawatss/hour (GWh). That increase was lower than expected, reportedly due to lower growth of residential consumption.

The survey shows that the industrial sector, in spite of the economic downturn, continues a slow, steady rise in consumption, reportedly due to more business in the export sector. (AB)
