Brasília, November 19, 2002 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - The Interministerial Committee to Combat Piracy is going to deliver a document to the new government on January 10 containing its proposals for preventing and fighting piracy in Brazil.

According to the Association for Defense of Intellectual Property (Adepi), Brazil has become the world's fourth biggest market for pirated goods. Losses just in CDs and video are estimated at US$130 million annually.

Clóvis Monteiro, the president of the committee, says that data on other sectors is still unreliable and more research must be done to consolidate information on the problem so that it can be dealt with more effectively. (AB)
