Brasília, November 20, 2002 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - The president of the PT, federal deputy José Dirceu (SP), met with PT congressional members yesterday and they decided to follow the agreement with the PMDB and allow the biggest parties in each house to nominate its president: thus, the the PT will hold the presidency of the Chamber of Deputies, and the PMDB of the Senate.

Dirceu said he would not be a candidate for president of the Chamber of Deputies, saying he would rather serve president-elect Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva in the executive branch. But he added, "I have already said that I prefer whatever Lula decides. If I have a choice, I want to be in the executive branch. But I will also serve in congress or in the party." (AB)
