Brasília - The Brazilian equestrian, Rodrigo Pessoa, conquered the silver medal today in the individual jumping competition at the Athens Olympic Games. Tied with the American, Chris Kappler, Pessoa received only one penalty in the jump-off, when he knocked down the last hurdle, losing four points. Next was the American's turn, but his horse, Royal Kaliber, started to limp after completing part of the course and was retired by his rider from the competition.

So far Brazil has won three gold medals - Robert Scheidt and the duo Torben Grael and Marcelo Ferreira in sailing, and Ricardo and Emanuel in men's beach volleyball; three silver - Adriana Behar and Shelda in women's beach volleyball, the women's soccer squad, and Rodrigo Pessoa in equestrian events; and two bronze - men's judo practitioners Leandro Guilheiro and Flávio Canto. Brazil is in 19th place in the overall standings.
