Brazil urges adjustments in WTO negotiating framework

Brasília - An analysis of the World Trade Organization proposal on an agreement regarding negotiations on agriculture and farm produce has led spokesmen for Brazil and the G-20 to make the following declaration: "...the document provides a basis for negotiations, but it still needs changes and adjustments in order to meet the desires of the G-20 representatives."

According to the president of the Confederation of Agriculture's Foreign Trade Commission, Gilman Viana Rodrigues, "The document is an advance over the post-Cancun climate," but improvements must be made in the terms of the WTO agreement, "because the way they are now makes it impossible to negotiate."
