Rio, March 8, 2004 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - The projects to generate employment and income supported by the Brazilian Small and Medium Business Assistance Service (Sebrae-RJ) in the Rocinha slum will also receive help from Youth Business International (YBI), a non-governmental organization created by Prince Charles of England to assist young entrepreneurs from third-world countries in the generation of business entreprises.

This morning the world director of YBI, Richard Street, visited the largest slum in Latin America and became acquainted with the eight initiatives that are providing needy youths opportunities to achieve success by working for themselves.

According to Sebrae-RJ specialist, Francisco Marins, responsible for the projects in Rocinha, the agreement that will soon be signed with YBI will guarantee the expansion of entrepreneurial counseling for youth in the 16-30 age bracket. "The idea is to give R$ 2 thousand to each project to motivate young entrepreneurs who work with handcrafts, music, dance, sewing, and culture in general," said Marins. (DAS)
