Rio, March 9, 2004 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - The president of Eletrobrás, Luiz Pinguelli Rosa, assured that Eletrobrás was the company that invested the most in the electric energy sector in 2003 (around R$ 3 billion), despite having to fulfill the R$ 1.2 billion primary surplus target imposed by the federal government, as well as another US$ 1 billion related to the Itaipu binational company. "Our intention is to improve this performance in 2004 and reach R$ 4.2 billion. If to this amount we add the sectorial funds (another R$ 4.5 - R$ 5.0 billion), we shall be arriving in the vicinity of R$ 9 billion -- apart from partnerships with the private sector. Including the resources that can come from these partnerships, the investments can add up to something around R$ 14 billion," Pinguelli affirms. (DAS)
