São Paulo, 2/3/2004 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - Torrential rains and strong winds punished the city of São Paulo yesterday afternoon making it hard for many workers to get back home after work. In the East zone of the city, the wind ripped off part of the roof of the Tatuapé subway station. Four people were injured and Line Three of the subway was shut down. That line is used by some 1.1 million people per day (it connects Corinthians-Itaquera to Barra Funda).

Besides the subway, suburban train service was affected as well between Brás and Calmon Viana.(AB)
