Brasília, 12/10/2003 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - The vote on the biosecurity law which deals with the use, production and handling of genetically modified products, originally scheduled for this month, has been postponed until next year. The government leader in the Chamber of Deputies, Aldo Rebelo (PCdoB-SP) reports that the government decided to postpone the vote due to an overload of bills up for votes and the need for further discussion of the new law's controversial points [the biosecurity law was causing a bottleneck in the lower house because as it was labeled "urgent" it had to be dealt with before other legislation could be taken up].
