Latest IPC-S shows inflation of 0.71%

Rio, 10/1/2003 (Agência Brasil - ABr) – The Weekly Consumer Price Index (IPC-S), which is conducted by the Fundação Getúlio Vargas, found inflation of 0.71% for the period between August 22 and September 22. That is an increase of 0.09 percentage points over the prior survey [which ended on September 15].

The IPC-S survey examines seven economic segments. In the last survey only two segments, Health and Personnal Care, and Education, Reading and Recreation, were lower than in the previous survey.

The increase in the IPC-S was bolstered by a rise in the Housing group, where prices rose 0.97%, up 0.14 percentage points from the last survey. (AB)
