Recife, 9/23/2003 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - Guidelines for new sustainable development projects based on strong environmental policy are under discussion at a pre-conference sponsored by the Ministry of Environment in Recife, capital of Pernambuco.

More than one thousand representatives from the government and private sector have gathered to find ways to strengthen the country's National Environmental System, which was established 20 years ago, but is in need of broader public support. (AB)
