Brasília, 6/18/2003 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - This Friday, June 20, president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva will meet with president George W. Bush in Washington for talks on the creation of the Free Trade Area of the Americas.

According to minister of Agriculture, Roberto Rodrigues, who will also travel to the US, Brazil is only interested in the FTAA if farm sector produce is part of the negotiations. Brazil wants greater access to the US market, with a reduction in tariffs and sanitation barriers. Brazil also believes the US should reduce its farm support subsidies. (AB)
