Brasília, June 17, 2003 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - At the fiftieth Cannes International Publicity Festival, Brazil managed to classify 100 advertisements in the Press and Outdoor category, among a total of 707 finalists. Being among the finalists is the first step toward conquering the coveted Lions trophies, in the festival that is considered the most important of its type in the world.
Brazil is the leader in classifications. In the category of creation for the internet, Brazilian publicity broke all records when it succeeded in placing one fifth (1/5) of the finalists, ahead of the United Kingdom and the United States, which dominated the market up to now. Since this category was created, in 1998, Brazil has won 27 Lions, surpassed only by the Americans.
The advertising industry generated R$ 13 billion last year in Brazil. (DAS)
