Brasília, 3/20/2003 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - The president of the Chamber of Deputies, João Paulo Cunha (PT/São Paulo), condemned the US - Iraq war, saying that hope and peace should prevail in a world that is more fraternal. Cunha said that the US president had disrespected the law, international treaties and the United Nations. He pointed out that the war could mean the beginning of the end of the UN.
Cunha went on to say that the crimes of Saddam Hussein should not go unpunished and that the rules of democracy must be respected in order to construct a more democratic and peaceful world. (AB)
