Brasília, March 3, 2003 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - On Friday (28), the Minister of Science and Technology, Roberto Amaral, received the Chinese Ambassador to Brazil, Jiang Yuande, to discuss cooperation agreements between the two countries. One of the agreements deals with the cultivation of transgenic, colored cotton. The other involves the CBERS-2 satellite, fruit of an agreement signed between Brazil and China in 1988. The satellite has the capacity to establish a complete sensory system, and it will be launched from a Chinese base this August. According to the Chinese Ambassador, Brazil has experience in cultivating colored cotton, while China has mastery over transgenic cultivation, and this makes possible investments in the textile industry, with repercussions on the world market.
