Minister of Human Rights speaks in Washington about government's plans in this area

Brasília, February 25, 2003 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - The Minister of the Special Secretariat of Human Rights, Nilmário Miranda, is expected tomorrow at the Inter-American Commission, in Washington, where he will deliver an address about the government's plans in this area. The Minister's presentation will be made prior to the 117th session, which will include public hearings and work groups to discuss cases of alleged human rights violations in Brazil. On Monday, the Minister was in Costa Rica, at the invitation of the president of the Inter-American Human Rights Court, professor Cançado Trindade. The meeting fulfilled a diplomatic function and should serve to improve relations between the international body and the Brazilian government. (DAS)
