Brasília, 1/9/2003 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - The secretary of Public Security, Luiz Eduardo Soares, says that the new government will attack violence on two fronts: dealing with social problems and sending out the police. He said the effort will require joint action together with the Secretariats for Women and Human Rights, the Ministry of Social Assistance and Promotion, and other government agencies and NGOs which work in social assistance.
Soares also called for recruiting needy youngsters in the fight against organized crime.
The secretary said he wants to implant a Unified Security System which would unite efforts by the various security agencies and police forces in the country. (AB)
