Rio, December 6, 2002 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - Deputy Luiz Ribeiro (PSDB-RJ), president of the parliamentary investigating commission (CPI) that is investigating the traffic of wild animals and plants, affirmed today that the mafias responsible for this type of smuggling are few and act in certain areas, but they handle many millions of dollars. Ribeiro did not wish to inform which kinds of animals and plants are the biggest victims. He said that the commission will propose changes in the legislation on wild animal traffic. (DAS)
