Brasília, December 3, 2002 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - The Mercosur Joint Parliamentary Commission will meet this Wednesday. Among other issues, it will discuss the creation of a Triple Border Committee for the area where Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay have common borders. The objective of the committee will be to speed up regional integration within the Mercosur area and strengthen tourism in the cities of Foz do Iguaçu (Brazil), Puerto Iguazu (Argentina) and Ciudad Del Este (Paraguay), which lie on the Triple Border.

This is the 20th meeting of the commission. Participants will include some 30 members of parliaments in Mercosur nations, plus Chile and Bolivia, Venezuela and the Andean Parliament. (AB)
