Brasília, 12 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - Simone Scholze, a special advisor at the Ministry of Science and Technology, speaking yesterday at a Senate seminar on human cloning, said that scientific progress demands a discussion of the ethics of human cloning. Scholze called for a revision of the Bio-Security Law, which at the moment prohibits any type of cloning. She pointed out that the UN, in a 1998 Unesco document, authorized therapeutical cloning in humans, for the treatment of diseases, but banned reproductive cloning in humans. (AB)
