Chilean general takes temporary command of Minustah

Brasília – With the death of the Brazilian commander of the UN Stabilization Mission in Haiti (Minustah), the Chilean general Eduardo Aldunate Herman, the vice commander, takes over until a permanent substitute is appointed.

In a note the UN said that secretary general Kofi Annan was "shocked and saddened" by the news of the death of general Urano Bacellar. The note goes on to say that a complete investigation will be made.
