Brasília - Tomorrow (7), Brazil will send its third shipment of humanitarian aid to countries affected by the South Asian tidal waves. A Brazilian Air Force KC 707 plane will depart from Rio de Janeiro carrying 16 tons of medications and water to Medan, in Indonesia, the country with the largest number of fatalities caused by the phenomenon that struck the coasts of Asia and Africa.

The Brazilian assistance effort is being coordinated by the Cabinet of Institutional Security of the Presidency of the Republic. Seven tons of medications were donated by the government of the state of São Paulo. The Ambev beverage company donated nine tons of drinking water.

A team of experts from various federal government Ministries will also proceed to South Asia to check out the countries' capacity to maintain the relief effort and their aid requirements.
