Number of deaths in São Paulo conficts climbs to 138

São Paulo - An updated tally by the State of São Paulo Department of Public Safety as of 6 P.M. yesterday (18) indicates that 138 people have died in consequence of the acts of violence that have disturbed the state since last Friday (12). 107 of the fatalities are suspected criminals. The rest are military and civil policemen, municipal guards, and prison guards.

According to the bulletin, 293 occurrences were registered, including attacks on buses, a bus company garage, residences of policemen, banks, a subway station, the headquarters of the Transit Engineering Company (CET), etc. 124 people were arrested, and 146 weapons were seized.

The Department's balance also informs that in the previous 24 hours, seven people were arrested, and 14 were killed. The fatal victims were individuals who confronted the police after being accused of being criminals
