Project will protect mangroves in Brazil

Brasília - The Ministry of Environment reports that it is launching a project today that will consist of action plans for the protection and sustainable use of mangroves in Brazil. The project budget is US$15 million, of which US$10 million will come from the government, and the remaining US$5 million from the Global Environment Fund. The UN Development Program will provide technical assistance in educating local populations, managers and those who use areas where there are tropical maritime shrubs and trees.
