Rio – Petrobras reports that it has begun holding talks with Gazprom, the Russian state-run giant that is the world's biggest dealer in natural gas. The two companies are discussing cooperation and investment opportunities.

In a note, Petrobras says that long-distance gas pipelines and the subterranean storage of natural gas are among the areas of mutual interest. The note goes on to say that the talks were "exploratory" and did not include any concrete proposals at this time.
