São Paulo, June 9, 2003 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - Yesterday (8), President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva announced that he will visit Arab countries, especially Lebanon, most likely in December. "I want all Arab countries to perceive our interest, which is a strong relationship as we never had before," he said. Lula took part in the opening of the Planet Lebanon, World Business Conference for Entrepreneurs of Lebanese Origin.
Speaking to the Lebanese community, the President affirmed that it is possible to expand the presence of Brazilian products and companies in the Arab world. According to the President, Brazil sells only 1.5% of its exports to Lebanon. The President also affirmed that Brazil will be receptive to Arab investments. Lula also said that he defends the creation of a Palestinian national state that is independent, democratic and cohesive and that lives in peace with its neighbors, especially Israel. (DAS)
