WTO meeting on Brazilian complaint against Bombardier is postponed

Brasília, November 25, 2002 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - The meeting on the Brazilian complaint against Bombardier subsidies at the World Trade Organization Dispute Settlement Board has been postponed indefinitely, reports the Ministry of Foreign Relations. The meeting was supposed to make a final decision on the dispute, following the failure of bilateral talks in October.

The Bombardier competes with Brazilian Embraer regional jets on world markets. In June the WTO authorized Brazil to retaliate after Brazil claimed losses of US$3.36 billion due to a Bombardier sale of 150 subsidized aircraft. Brazil says it will not use its retaliatory rights. (AB)
