Porto Alegre, November 25, 2002 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - A UN commission visited various Indian communities in Rio Grande do Sul last week to observe health, water and food conditions. The commission will submit a report in April at the UN Human Rights Commission.

The government has scheduled R$20 million (US$5.6 million) for Brazilian Indian communities in next year's budget. But Rio Grande do Sul will receive an additional R$70,000 (US$19,700) in emergency funds to feed some 1,500 Indian children in danger of malnutrition. (AB)
