Recife, November 22, 2002 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - President-elect Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (popularly known as Lula) paid a visit to Recife (Pernambuco) today. Before he met at City Hall with the mayor, João Paulo, and PT leaders, Lula made a short speech. Visibly moved, he reaffirmed that he will work 24 hours a day to make extreme poverty in the country a page of ancient history.

Lula said he will name to his ministerial team people who are sensitive from the political point of view, because he believes the country has to be governed with the heart. (DAS)
