Brasília, 28 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - The president of the Chamber of Deputies, Aécio Neves (PSDB/Minas Gerais), has given up on any chance of a so-called "concentrated effort" to have votes in the House before the October elections. According to Neves, the democratic process has taken charge and members of congress are busy with the elections.
However, Neves said that the legislative year is not over, citing important bills awaiting votes in the areas of security and financial sector regulations. There is also a constitutional amendment changing the date the new president takes office. At the moment the inauguration is January 1. The date should be changed to January 6, so that foreign authorities can attend. (AB)
