Events now account for 3,1% of GDP

Brasília, 23 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - Business events in Brazil generate R$ 37 billion (US$ 12.9 billion) annually, or 3.1% of GDP, and employ 3 million people. The information comes from the presidents of Embratur, Luís Octávio Caldeira, and the Small Business Administration (Sebrae), Sérgio Moreira, who have just released the first survey on event tourism in Brazil. The survey was conducted in 120 cities and found that 320,000 events occur annually in the country, with most of them in São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Minas Gerais. (AB)
