Guayaquil (Ecuador), 24 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - President Fernando Henrique Cardoso will attend the II South American Summit in Guayaquil, Ecuador on July 26 and 27 with the intention of strengthening the South American Regional Infrastructure Integration Initiative (IIRSA), especially in energy, communications and transportation. Twelve heads of state will be present for discussions which will also deal with new trade agreements, including the conclusion of the Mercosur-Andean Community free trade agreement. Regarding this negotiation, Brazil aims to increase its exports by diversifying its markets and boost regional trade through new credit and financing mechanisms. (AB)
