Guayaquil (Equador), 24 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - The director of the Department of the Americas at Itamaraty, Antônino Mena Gonçalves, says that Brazil will not send troops to fight drug traffic in Columbia as part of a multinational force. He said that if president-elect Uribe asks for Brazilian participation in peace negotiations that will be possible, but that the use of Brazilian soldiers or territory in fighting drug dealers is out of the question.
Gonçalves is in Guayquil participating in drawing up the final document of the II South American Summit. The text will call for reinforcing the fight against drugs and terrorism. (AB)
