Brasília, 17 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - Yesterday president Fernando Henrique Cardoso launched Brazil's Agenda 21, which contains the country's proposals for sustainable development and environmental protection. The document will be presented at the Second World Summit on Sustainable Development (Rio+10+ which takes place in South Africa next month.
Minister of Environment, José Carlos Carvalho, calls the document a roadmap and reference book for Brazilian sustainable development, pointing out that it was drawn up from suggestions made by over 40,000 people. "This is not a government proposal, it is a Brazilian proposal made by all of the people," underscored the minister. (AB)
