Brasília, 17 (Agência Brasil - ABr) – Yesterday minister of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade, Sérgio Amaral, met with representative of domestic carriers Vasp, Varig and TAM for talks on aviation sector indebtedness. It is estimated that the sector owes the government R$5 billion (US$1.8 billion).
Among the proposals under study is a reduction of taxes on the sector production chain. According to the president of Vasp, Wagner Canhedo, changes in some taxes could reduce the tax burden by 8% on net income. Canhedo announced that the studies by the government and the private sector on the problem should be ready by the end of August. (AB)
