New Health minister takes office

Brasilia, 22 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - Barjas Negri took over the Ministry of Health yesterday, replacing Senator Jose Serra, who is running to be the PSDB party presidential candidate. During the command transfer ceremony, Negri - who was the Ministry's executive secretary - said that a war against the dengue disease was declared in a meeting with state and municipal Health secretaries. He added that this war will only end when the disease is beaten.
Negri also committed to carefully oversee spending with basic sanitation. He stressed that the Alvorada Project will spend R$ 1 billion (approx. US$ 414.1 million) in the implementation of running water and sewage systems. (MW)
