Brasília – Families in Brazil will be paying average interest rates of 36.2% per year in 2012 (this is a personal loan rate). According to the Central Bank, that is the lowest the average has been since they began tracking it in 1994. Since June this average interest rate has fallen 0.3 percentage points.

Average corporate interest rates also fell between June and July, reaching 23.6%. That brought the average overall interest rate (corporate and personal) to 30.7%.

Meanwhile, spread levels also fell slightly, to 28.4 percentage points on personal transactions and 16 percentage points for corporate.

Payment delinquencies of more than 90 days are now running at 7.9% on personal loans and 4% on corporate loans.
