Brazil and Botswana sign AIDS cooperation agreement

During today's visit of Botswana's President, Festus Mogae, the governments of Botswana and Brazil signed a cooperation agreement establishing norms for future projects between the two countries. AIDS prevention treatment is one of these areas, according to informacions provided by the Ministry of Foreign Relations.

Botswana, a country in Africa's semi-arid region, has high indexes of AIDS virus contamination. Since 2002 Brazil and Botswana have worked together to combat the disease. The argreement is valid for five years and can be extended for the same period.

President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva offered a lunch in honor of Botswana's President, Festis Mogae.
